May seemed to be one of the wettest springs we can remember in a very long time. Some Laketon Township residents on Peterson Road were hit extremely hard. United Way of the Lakeshore reached out to Mission for Area People to be the fiduciary for funding to help families on Peterson Road.
Some of the families had to replace everything such as doors, flooring, furniture, and walls had to be dry walled, painted etc. One of the victims had the toilet out in the hallway until she could get someone to help with the flooring. I can’t imagine having to live like this for a couple of months. The good news is through the funding from United Way of the Lakeshore, the first family assisted received 3 new doors, sub flooring, carpeting and linoleum.
The second flood victim had to have a French drain dug around her house, the cement floors needed to be sanded, sealed, and then flooring laid down. Thank You United Way of the Lakeshore for your generosity and for trusting Mission for Area People to asset the situation of the Flood Victims in Laketon Township.
