Mission for Area People and Meijer Partner to Provide Hunger Relief in Muskegon County Through Retai

Double Match Days at Meijer

Don't Miss Out - It's Double Match Days Friday, Sept. 11 and Saturday, Sept. 12 - Hurry to Support MAP's Food Pantry!

Our community continues to feel the impacts of COVID-19, especially our neighbors facing food insecurity. The economic impact of this pandemic means more and more members of our community are turning to us for help in ensuring they know where their next meal will come from. Mission for Area People (MAP) has seen demand increase by as much as three times the normal demand since March of this year.

In response, I’m pleased to announce that MAP has joined forces with the Meijer Simply Give hunger relief program during this difficult time to help fill that void for our local families.

Each Simply Give campaign helps more than 250 food pantries in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin keep their shelves stocked with food for those in need. But it also fosters a sense of community by encouraging customers to purchase $10 Simply Give donation cards, which are then converted into Meijer food-only gift cards and given to the local food pantry selected by the store.

MAP will benefit from donation cards purchased at the Meijer store, 700 W Norton in Muskegon now through Oct. 24.

“I want to encourage you to help us fulfill our mission of helping feed the hungry in Muskegon County by purchasing a food donation card during your next shopping trip,” said Diana Wright-Stubbs, Executive Director of MAP. “Tell your friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers because every dollar makes a difference.”

And when we give, Meijer gives. For every $10 Simply Give donation card purchased on Friday, Sept. 11 and Saturday, Sept. 12, Meijer will double match the donation meaning they will donate an additional $20. This means our pantry will receive a total of $30 for every $10 a customer donates on those days. We are very encouraged about this opportunity to serve Muskegon County.
